Flavors of Caribbean Costa Rica
The Caribbean coast of Costa Rica has a unique blend of restaurants, flavors and people. The large quantity of natural ingredients grown in the area has given many foreigners inspiration to combine dishes from thier country of origin with the ingredients available from the Caribbean.
The local cuisine offers true Caribbean flavors - many of the dishes not found in other parts of Costa Rica have been inspired by the Jamaican descendants who settled here starting in the 1820’s.
The towns of Cahuita, Puerto Viejo and the smaller towns south towards Manzanillo have a great selection of food suitable for most taste buds.
Here are some authentic, local recipes!
