Shuttles & Private Transportation
Costa Rica has a great network of shuttles and private transportation to all parts of the country.
Shuttle service
The shuttle service has daily departures from San Jose and other main tourists areas throughout Costa Rica that leave at set times in the morning and afternoon. The shuttles are A/C minibuses and provide a level of comfort above the public bus system. They have the added chauffeur service of meeting you at your hotel and taking you to the doorstep of your next hotel.
At times when you consider taxi fares to the public bus station then a taxi on your arrival to your next hotel, the extra cost of the shuttle depending on the location of your hotel from the bus stations can work out better than the public bus.
The shuttle will have to stop at different hotels when picking you up and also when you are getting dropped off at your destination. All the routes have a rest stop but if you need to stop to use the rest room the driver will pull in somewhere for you. The shuttle service only picks up from hotels they do not pick up from the airport you will need private transportation for airport pick ups.
The service to the Southern Caribbean departs San Jose at approximately 7:30am and from the Southern Caribbean to San Jose the service departs at 6:30am and 2:30pm, depending on your hotel location this time may change. The driving time takes approximately 4 hours with a rest stop, the price of this service is $35pp. All destinations in and around the Southern Caribbean are listed here
Private transportation
We can pick you up from all main tourist destinations throughout the country including the airport. For airport pickups we will need your flight details including where you are traveling from and our driver will be waiting for you outside arrivals with your name written on a board. The price of the private transportation varies depending on your pick-up and destination please contact us for a quote.

Hi Michelle,
The price is $61 round trip or $34 one way (the price was recently reduced). 2 year olds don’t have to pay. I’m sure it’s safe for your 2 year old to make the trip with you watching over as you would any busy, curious 2 year old. Have Fun!

There are a couple methods of transport available. One is $29 per person, with a 2 person minimum.
The other costs $39 and they only have 2 spaces available as of this date.

It is a rough journey to come here at night. We suggest you stay the night in SJ. We can get a shared shuttle to pick you up and bring you to Puerto Viejo in the morning. Otherwise, We can have a private shuttle meet you at the airport and bring you directly to your room in Puerto Viejo. The cost for this is $200.
